You May Now Kinect Yourself to Your Sofa

That’s right folks, Microsoft has put their programmers to work, and the fruits of their labor are finally showing. Kinect is now more finely tuned to someone who is sitting down, Eurogamer reports.

Kinect’s camera focus for creating your digital skeletal structure has been switched from the bottom of your spine to the back of the neck. This allows the Kinect camera to recognize you even when your bottom half is firmly planted into your favorite chair.

Hit the jump for more.

According to Andrew Oliver of Blitz Games Studios, this change occurred “a few months ago.”

“A lot of developers were like, ‘Oh my God! Everything’s broken,’ because all the nodes were moved. But then it was like, ‘Oh, actually, this is more logical.’”

Time to rejoice fellow gamers, we need not sweat while we play our Kinectimals. Take that Wii Fit!
