Twisted Metal is Back!

David Jaffe, head of Eat Sleep Play, unveiled his long-rumored PS3 reboot of “the oldest franchise in Playstation history”: Twisted Metal. Showing an online deathmatch, the new “Twisted Metal adds crazy new gameplay features to the car combat classic … like flying.

According to Jaffe, there is going to be a new emphasis on teamwork. On many of the multiplayer modes, characters will be asked to work in “factions” based on the series’ characters to compete in multi-tiered battles. Trailer below:

Twisted Metal is on schedule for a release some time in 2011.

Woke up a bit late into Sony’s press conference, but caught this. As soon as the trailer started and they were talking about the greatest racing game on PS1, and PS2 I had already started to think of Twisted Metal…and then the Ice Cream Truck song started to play and I was: YES!
