Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M Double Whammy

All this week, Nintendo has been holding conferences all over the world revealing new details on their upcoming hot new hits. During their Australian conference, it was announced that Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M will be hitting Wii consoles this year. Yeah, that’s right, this year, within a few months apart. Specifically, between June and August.

On top of that, Nintendo Australia’s Greg Arthurton wanted to make it very clear that Mario and Metroid are not going to be holiday releases. If ’s that’s the case, then there is a very strong possibility that the new Wii Zelda game could be the leader of Nintendo’s 2010 Holiday lineup. I mean, it’s only logical that they would put Zelda in that spot. Plus, it would wrap up Nintendo’s epic trifecta all in one year. When’s the last time that happened, eh?

Bear in mind, though, that it was also mentioned a while back that the newZelda would only come out when it’s “perfect.” That could be hinting at a delay for the game, which has happened for pretty much every other 3DZelda title and would ruin Nintendo’s pretty little plan.

We’ll keep you updated on this story as more new comes in throughout Wednesday. This could get exciting!

UPDATE: Super Mario Galaxy 2’s release date was revealed by Cammie Dunaway the at Nintendo Summit in San Francisco this morning. Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be released on a very early May 23rd.

UPDATE 2: Cammie also just announced that  Metroid: Other M will be hitting stores just a month after Mario Galaxy 2 on June 27.
