Little Girl Molests and Humiliates Virtual Tiger as Microsoft reveals a lot of Kinect Games
Microsoft is trying real hard to 1up the Wii in the casual market, and today they might have just done that at their E3 Media Briefing. It’s confirmed: Kinect is coming November 4th, and with that Microsoft revealed a lot of casual titles today (exactly fifteen titles will be launching with Kinect). However, there was no revealing of the Kinect’s standalone. All that has been confirmed so far in regards to pricing is the cost of the new Kinect ready Xbox 360 ($299). However, GameStop has jumped the gun and revealed that the standalone Kinect kit will cost $150. Not confirmed, but if true, that is a lot of dough for a peripheral. To start the casual parade, Microsoft trotted out a little girl to demo Kinectimals: a virtual pet game that allows kids whose parents only would let them have goldfish to experience what it’s like to have a big cat as a pet without the mauling that usually happens. Like Nitendogs, little kids are going to eat this up. Hell, even Jaleel and Steve just said they plan to pick it up.
After that, MS revealed the demo for Kinect Sports (great title right!) by pumping up a crowd of avatars and pretending to race a lady. Admittedly, it looked very responsive. The trailer for Kinect Sports showed Track and Field, Volleyball, Bowling (never seen a motion control game do that before), Ping Pong, Soccer, and Boxing.
Then Microsoft revealed Kinect Joy Ride where you get the Paraplegic experience by controlling a car with your arms. It was shown in a cartoony style, so nothing realistic, but still looked fun.
Kinect Adventures was then shown and it appears to be a virtual obstacle course with a competitive mode that captures what you look like while your playing and can quickly upload them to Facebook to destroy your reputation. It included basic motion controls, and probably one of the better party games revealed (especially one to play with a girl).
One of the key launch titles revealed was Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, yet another game that makes irresponsible promises about being able to keep you fit. Still, it looked pretty damn impressive for the time we got to see it (much more so than Wii Fit). The ability for the system to pick up your entire body’s movements clearly makes it superior to what a system can read from your ability balance.
After that, Star Wars for Kinect and Harmonix’s Dance Central demos were shown, the latter of which featured this cool cat:
