Star Wars Kinect – Hell Yeah I’m a Jedi

Sure, Kinect is cool. I mean, playing video games without a controller is an amazing, boundary-breaking achievement like Jackie Robinson or the Rick-Roll, but what good is a cool control system without games to match? Well, now there’s actually something to get excited about…

Did somebody say, “Lightsabers?” More info after the jump.

Some things are absolute truths. As a child, every kid loved Star Wars. After seeing Star Wars, (which they loved) every kid wanted to be jedi. It would make sense that software for a platform as epic as Kinect would try to fulfill at least one widely-held fantasy that has yet to be satisfied by gamers everywhere. Thus, as the coup de Grace of their Kinect “launch” lineup, Microsoft announced a special partnership with Microsoft to create a Kinect-based Star Wars game.

The preview shows an on-rails game, where players deflect tons of laser-beams and cut up wave after wave of stormtroopers. It all comes to close with a little jedi-dueling action with you squaring off against every nerd’s favorite man in black, Darth Vader. Not much more to say about it, really…

Lightsabers + you = awesome.

Unfortunately, calling this yet-to-be-titled awesomeness a “launch” title is somewhat misleading. The game will not be ready when Kinect is released in November; the trailer simply flashed “2011.”
