Who would of thought that a virtual concert would be so fun? Yesterday, EDM producer Marshmello teamed up with Epic Games on Fortnite to host a concert live on the game. Could this be the concerts of the future?
Everyone on Fortnite was teleported into lobby’s of 60 players across thousands of different matches where they were able to watch this concert live. There on the stage, Christopher Comstock, who goes by the DJ name Marshmello and where’s a signature marshmello shaped helmet, began a 10-minute min-set concert. The concert was held at the in-game location Pleasant Park, which was teased for days, even showing up on Marshmello’s real-life tour schedule and, eventually, advertised via posters within Fortnite itself.
Epic apparently learned from its last live events on the game like rocket launch and freezing over the entire game map, launched a special game mode specifically for the show.
Epic disabled the ability to use weapons for the entirety of the 10-minute event, which ensured that everyone could have a front-row seat to the event.
Marshmello played many of his hit songs during the event that brought the stage to life. When the song Fly was played, players shot up in the air flying around. When the song Alone was playing and the beat dropped, players where jumping around very high.
