Earth Defense Force is Getting a Sequel. Photographic Evidence Enclosed

Just in case this week’s announcement of Duke Nukem Forever crazy enough, somebody over on the NeoGAF forums has posted a snapshot of a banner proclaiming that a sequel to 2006′s Earth Defense Force 2017 is getting a sequel. You can read more after the jump.

Rumors say that the new title will be called Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. Beyond the banner seen above, no official announcement has been made and no word on what consoles it will be on (the original was an Xbox 360 exclusive). Still, the picture looks legit, and there have been previous mumblings that there may be a squel on the way, perhaps they’re saving the announcement for PAX? We’ll let you know as soon as we have more details.

Personally, I couldn’t be more excited, the original EDF is one of those overlooked gems that few people paid attention to, but went on to gain a cult following. Do yourself a favor and try to find a copy in your local bargain bin, you won’t be disappointed.
