Just in case this week’s announcement of Duke Nukem Forever crazy enough, somebody over on the NeoGAF forums has posted a snapshot of a banner proclaiming that a sequel to 2006’s Earth Defense Force 2017 is getting a sequel. You can read more after the jump.

RZA playable in DJ Hero 2

Hmm, I really should let one of our black guys get this one but what the heck? I can report on hip-hop things.

Anyway, it was announced today that RZA (it doesn’t stand for anything, I checked) a popular hip-hop artist and producer is being included as a playable character in DJ Hero 2: Activision’s urban music game.

In addition he is providing tracks for the game by taking other people’s songs and combining them to create what I remember someone calling a “mush-up”

Mr. ZA’s inculsion will likely appeal to the type of hoods and scalawags this game is being marketed to.

Wu-Tang forevea bitches! I’m out!

Huxley Still Alive. Wait… What’s Huxley?

To answer my own obnoxious question: Huxley: The Dystopia is an MMORPGFPS that has been in development since 2005. After half a decade numerous delays and the planned Xbox 360 version put on indefinite hold, thinks are starting to look grim for the once promising title. Now, publisher NHN has announced that it is handing over publishing rights back to the original developer Webzen so that they may self-publish the title themselves. Here is what NHN said about the decision:

“Our team at NHN USA fully support this decision after serious internal discussions between both divisions, NHN USA will continue to work with Webzen on current and future publishing projects and expects great success for Huxley as a global product.”

At this point, I’m sure Webzen just wants to get the damn thing out so they don’t end up like some other first person shooters.

Rock Band 3 setlist revealed through satire

Rock Band 3 Setlist OFFICIAL Comment from Harmonix on Vimeo.

There’s been some buzz around a video of Harmonix employees flipping through almost the entire Rock Band 3 setlist behind an in-progress video interview with some site that’s not us. Now, I didn’t report on this because I was too busy watching old Survivor seasons and touching myself, but now Harmonix has released this video where they satirize their whoopsie and officially reveal the whole damn list.

If you’re not prepared to go slowly through the video to see every song the list is after the break

Ubisoft and Gamestop team up for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Beta

The most exciting feature of Ubisoft’s upcoming sequel/spin-off Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is definitely the addition of multiplayer gameplay.  What’s better than being a kick-ass Assassin?  Being a better kick-ass Assassin than everybody you know.  Knowing that, it should come as no surprise that Ubisoft will opening up a multiplayer beta in September to hype up the game and work out the kinks in their experimental new mode.

What is surprising, however, is that Ubisoft has made a deal with Gamestop, offering beta access exclusively to PS3 owners who pre-order the game from the retailer.  With the increasing excitement over multiplayer betas, its not surprising that a developer has come up with a way to use them to increase sales.  The beta begins September 13th, just over two months before ACB’s release.  Beginning on August 9th, beta codes will given to players who pre-order the game.  Don’t worry, if you’ve already put down cash for the game you can simply go Gamestop with your receipt and they will give you a code.  If that’s you’re plan, I would suggest you act quickly though; Gamestop says that there are a finite number of beta “tokens” and they will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood will be in stores on November 16th.

EA holding NBA Jam hostage on PS3/360

Now this is just a dick move. EA apparently has no confidence in NBA Elite’s ability to survive a name change so they are lashing it on the new NBA Jam, forcing consumers to buy Elite 11 just to get at it.

That’s right, NBA Jam will not be sold on XBLM or in the PS3 store. It will only be available through a one-time use code packaged with new copies of NBA Elite 11. The 360 and PS3 version of NBA Jam will be missing The Remix Tour mode of the standalone Wii version.

EA was doing so well not being evil I guess they were bound to slip sometime.

This week in fake plastic cover bands: 8/3

This week Rock Band has a group of 8 singles including indie darlings, new wave icons, overtly christian stuff, not so overt christian stuff, German industrial, British synthpop, and something that claims to be Death Metal but doesn’t sound like it. The songs are:

Blondie – Rapture
dc Talk – Jesus Freak
The Decemberists – The Perfect Crime #2
Eagles of Death Metal – I Only Want You
Eels – Saturday Morning
Family Force 5 – Love Addict
KMFDM – Sturm & Drang
La Roux – Bulletproof

Oddly enough these are all from the first half of the alphabet and cut off at “L”. Perhaps we’ll see another similarly schizophrenic bunch of singles next week.

As for Guitar Hero’s well, they haven’t announced anything yet. If the speculation in their forums is correct it will be everything they ever wanted compressed into 3-packs.

That’s all for this week and remember: androgyny’s all fun and games until you try to figure out just what you went home with.

R4 devices banned in the UK

Nintendo has a long, proud history of having the most vicious legal team in the industry and they were able to add another notch to their belts today as London’s High Court banned R4 devices (used both for legitamite homebrew and not so legitamite piracy) in the United Kingdom.

If you’re a pirate this should put an end to your villiany forever and you will never again try to play a game for free. If you’re a homebrewer you’re shit outta luck.
