Bobby Kotick Dreams of Call of Duty Online

“Call of Duty, now only 9.99 a month!”
Those words have been haunting Activision CEO Bobby Kotick’s dreams for months now. Speaking with the with the Wall Street Journal last week, Kotick said that the number one change he would make to his company is turn the Call of Duty series into one large subscription-based game.”I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow… When you think about what the audience’s interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.” Yeah… Ok. Let’s translate, shall we? Bobby Kotick knows that you love Call of Duty. So, if he could change one thing about his company right now, he would make it so that he could keep his hand in your pocket 24/7.
Rumors and murmurings about a Call of Duty MMO have been coming and going for about a year, ever since Activision floated the possibility in a customer survey. With Kotick bringing up the subject yet again in such a high-profile manner, it seems likely that the company will be pursuing the project in the near future.
What did we do to deserve this!?
