Bwuh? Out of the blue, the PC version of
Portal got an update today. The only info given with the release was this:
"Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations."
The update adds one new Achieve-O called "Transmission Recieved" and doesn't bother to tell you how to get it. It also adds 17 new audio files that are linked to the radio in the beginning of the game when you're trapped in your cell. Apparently, based on what you do with the radio, different frequencies are emitted in Morse Code and, after some
sleuthing, it was found out that there are decoded images in each of the audio files.
This is some serious J.J. Abrams shit here. What the hell are they planning with all this? Are they setting up the next Portal game? Are they going to actually ADD MORE CONTENT to the first fucking game?! Seriously, it's like Valve just dropped the game like a hot potato after a year of praise and XBLA port. Suddenly, Gabe Newell goes "I'm bored with trolling
TF2 players and NOT working on
Half Life: Episode 3... Oh yeah! We had a game called
Portal, didn't we? Let's do some shit in that instead of WORKING ON
EPISODE 3!" Dammit Gabe I hate you with all my hate, why the hell haven't you made motherfucking
Episode 3 of
Half Life yet!?
Ahem.. sorry about that... hit the jump to check out the encrypted images found in the new audio files from the update...
