Ubisoft has confirmed that R.U.S.E. will be coming out June 4th in the UK, and June 8th in the US on the 360, PS3 and PC. A public PC beta test for the game started on Steam yesterday. The game is looking interesting, at least on the PC. We’re hoping the console versions will help the effort to get strategy games playable on controllers.

  • Valve officially announces Portal 2

Valve have finally come out and officially announced Portal 2. The game is due to hit this coming holiday season. Apart from that, no other information or media has been announced (the image above is of our much-loved weighted companion cube before it assumed the correct party escort submission position). We believe Valve was strong-armed into announcing the game thanks to the ARG hunters distressing a few companies that are coincidentally named after content featured heavily in the current Half Life lore (Borealis, for example). Also, Game Informer splashing it across the front cover of their next issue probably didn't help.

Rumours currently state that Portal 2 will be a stand-alone, full price retail release. Hopefully we won’t be asked to murder anymore weighted companion cubes, most of the staff are still mourning theirs and it’s the root of all the arguments in the office. We’re expecting to hear more from the game during Gabe Newell’s GDC appearance next week.

  • A Wild Digimon Battle Open Beta Approaches!

Well I just got an interesting email from a Ms. Molly Gerth. She told me that there is going to be an open beta for Digimon Battle on the way and I can now sign up for it. Figured I would be a super-nice dude and let you all sign up for it too. I need someone to do the Digirap with, after all. According to this fabulous link Molly gave me, the sign-up period for the beta will be from March 3-16 and, on the 17th the beta will start. I guess you all better get your sign-up in there now and get ready to enjoy some extremely mediocre MMORPG!

I'm sorry but nothing can top the awesomeness that was the original PSX Digimon World game. That game was so damn awesome. The only, and I mean only way that this game could possibly be more awesome is if I can raise and use a WereGarurumon. If I cannot use that badass Digimon then fuck this game. I really may have to choke a bitch, and sadly that bitch could end up being Steve Bogda (that's right, I said it! What'cha gonna do about it, bitch? Editor's Note: I'm going to fire you. That's what.)

Hit the jump for press release info on the game that vaguely explains how it will work.

  • The Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack announced

EA has confirmed the second expansion pack for The Sims 3. Entitled “Ambitions”, it allows players to follow their Sims through careers and other paths. The player has direct control over their Sims’ work. You could become a doctor, ghostbuster, a fire-fighter or an investigator amongst others. Each of the careers has different methodologies too. For example, as a doctor you should make house calls and save lives, or become a mad-scientist type and try experimental medicine on patients. Ambitions will hit June 2010 for PC/MAC, and late 2010 for iPhone and iPod Touch.

“The variety of careers to choose from is unmatched and we’ve never given players the opportunity to follow their Sims to work and affect their actions on the job,” said Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio at EA. “The Sims 3 Ambitions changes that. Players’ actions at work now directly affect their lives, community and neighbours and become an extremely important part of how the game is played.”

  • Portal Update Brings Mysterious Mysteries

Bwuh? Out of the blue, the PC version of Portal got an update today. The only info given with the release was this:

"Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations."

The update adds one new Achieve-O called "Transmission Recieved" and doesn't bother to tell you how to get it. It also adds 17 new audio files that are linked to the radio in the beginning of the game when you're trapped in your cell. Apparently, based on what you do with the radio, different frequencies are emitted in Morse Code and, after some sleuthing, it was found out that there are decoded images in each of the audio files.

This is some serious J.J. Abrams shit here. What the hell are they planning with all this? Are they setting up the next Portal game? Are they going to actually ADD MORE CONTENT to the first fucking game?! Seriously, it's like Valve just dropped the game like a hot potato after a year of praise and XBLA port. Suddenly, Gabe Newell goes "I'm bored with trolling TF2 players and NOT working on Half Life: Episode 3... Oh yeah! We had a game called Portal, didn't we? Let's do some shit in that instead of WORKING ON EPISODE 3!" Dammit Gabe I hate you with all my hate, why the hell haven't you made motherfucking Episode 3 of Half Life yet!?

Ahem.. sorry about that... hit the jump to check out the encrypted images found in the new audio files from the update...

Kalypso Media has today announced an expansion pack for Tropico 3. Entitled ‘Absolute Power’, it’s the first expansion pack for the game and is released in Europe sometime in May 2010 for the PC. It will cost £19.99 and requires Tropico 3 to play. The expansion pack features new missions, new islands and new gameplay features. The new campaign features 10 missions on a separate map with 10 islands, also available in sandbox mode. Square Enix have announced that the first wave of (closed) beta testing for Final Fantasy XIV will begin March 11th. The company made the announcement on the official VanaFest 2010 website last night. VanaFest is a weird Final Fantasy XI cult celebration that has happened every year since FFXI was launched. Dedicated FFXI players should have got their beta invites last night. Square Enix haven’t confirmed when regular intrigued entrants will be invited. Those who didn’t get into the closed beta will have more opportunities to join in the near future.

Grand Theft Auto IV is now available on the Games for Windows Live Marketplace Games on Demand service. It costs $29.99 on the service. The PC version includes 32 player multiplayer matches, a video editor and Independence FM for you own songs. We’re hoping Microsoft will think of snappier names for their future services, as our fingers are tiring from typing out their elongated titles.
